| HELPFUL STORAGE TIPS:
- Place those items that you may need to access often in the front.
- Make up an inventory of your stored items and keep it in a safe place. Like at home or in a safe deposit box.
- Label each box with contents, seal them with tape. Numbering the boxes can help with your inventory list.
- Place your storage items on 2x4 boards or on pallets.
- DO NOT STORE anything COMBUSTIBLE (e.g., paint thinner, gasoline, solvents, paint, etc.)
- Use uniform size boxes for easy stacking (we have several sizes of sturdy boxes available for sale at the front office).
- Stack lighter boxes on top of heavier ones.
- Dishes and glasses should be wrapped in paper and packed in sturdy boxes. We have dish pack boxes designed specifically for this purpose.
- Pictures and mirrors should be wrapped in cardboard, marked “FRAGILE” and placed on end.
- Furniture with drawers can be utilized as storage places for pictures, Knick knacks, china, silverware, small items, etc. Wrap them in tablecloths, towels and blankets to prevent breakage.
- Larger appliances make excellent “packing cases” for blankets, towels, tablecloths and clothes.
- Shovels, hoes, rakes and hoses can be stored together in empty trash cans. Stack empty trash cans inside one another.
- Tables having removable legs should be “broken down” to save space.
- Sofas and love-seats can be stored on end to save floor space. Always place a protective cover completely around the item.
- Cover stuffed furniture with cardboard or blankets to protect against dust.
- Do not place heavy or sharp objects on top of upholstered furniture.
- If you stand a mattress on the side, prop them up so they stand straight. They may otherwise tend to bend out of shape.
- Rent the smallest space possible and pack the space full.
